Waste Parts Loud Speaker

Waste Parts

Waste Parts is a passive loudspeaker made from reused automobile components. The main body is the cylinder section of a discarded engine, cleaned and polished aluminium. The base is stainless steel, shaped by laser cutting and welding. The panel and assembly parts are aluminium and plastic. The dense, thick engine shell reduces acoustic resonance and noise from shell vibration. Waste Parts measures 440 mm in width, 330 mm in depth and 1200 mm in height. The loudspeaker is used with high fidelity playback equipment. The design gives car parts new value instead of simple recycling.

Waste Parts Loud Speaker by Pang Ming has been identified as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Waste Parts Loud Speaker earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that celebrates superior design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
