Spidique
Spidique is a chair produced with 3D printing technology in PLA. The form of Spidique was generated with Ameba software, which applies the BESO algorithm for topological optimization. The calculated shape was then refined by the design team to improve ergonomics and visual appeal. Slender lines are merged into the structure to balance appearance and mechanics. Prototypes were printed and tested for comfort and durability. The intent behind Spidique is to reach the required function with a minimal amount of plastic and reduced material waste.
Spidique Chair by yang siqi has been identified as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Spidique Chair was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2024. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
